Right from inception of ECE Dept. in Vaagdevi College of Engineering in 1998, many labs were established as per the curriculum of the JNT University. All these labs are made available for the students to impart and to enhance technical knowledge in both practical and theoretical aspects and to make the students more aware of practical knowledge regarding the new and emerging technologies in the Electronics industry. The ECE department has had excellant academic progress over the past one dacade with highly motivated students and well qualified faculty members.
The department has research scholars actively working in different emerging researchareas.
The Department issponsoring about 3 faculty members for pursuing P.G/Ph.D every year.
The department encourages the supporting technical staff to improve their skills & qualification.
Guest lectures are being organized every year to keep abreast of the Technological Developments, for the benefit of staff & students.
The department brought out a “Students Magazine” in the year 2005-06.
To achieve 100% employability of students.
To establish active Industry-Departmental interactive programs for students & faculty for training & projects .
To impart good technical knowledge to the students.
To conduct short term courses in various fields of Electronics & Communication Engg. to cater to the needs of young staff members in various colleges in the Private sector.
B.Tech Programme was accredited for a period 3 years by NBA in 2008.
The department has well equipped laboratories for VLSI design, Mixed Signal Processing & Wireless Communication and Embedded Systems .
The Department has advanced simulation and implementation software like MATLAB, Tanner Tool, GSM simulation, etc.
The Departmental digital library is having rich collection of journals.

The ECE department has been stated with the basic labs like Electronics devices and circuits lab, Microprocessor and Microcontroller lab, Circuit analysis lab linear integrated Circuits lab with many trainer kits, and also procured required advanced laboratory equipment.
Electronics – Computer aided design lab and Micro-wave Engineering lab had been established in 2000. E-CAD lab consists of around 30 Lakhs worth of software and hardware. Vaagdevi College of Engineering is the first college under JNTU to have will equipped laboratories in Telangana region. The Vaagdevi College of Engineering has advanced software like TANNER TOOLS, Active HDL, Multisim and around 40 Trainer Kits Based on Advanced Software like Xilinx, Synplifypro etc.
Microprocessor and Microcontroller lab consists of 30 Advanced Microprocessor kits and around 20 microcontroller kits with the software like MASM and TASM, which provides enough software tools for the students in programming.
The Newly established lab i.e. Embedded Systems useful for students to provide knowledge on the latest trends like on-chip processor, on-chip memories and many more. It consists of 10 Lakhs worth laboratory equipment with 15 Embedded System trainer kits.
Along with these labs, the department also consists of Advanced Mixed Signal laboratory and wireless Communication lab with around 1.5 Lakhs worth equipment for M.Tech and research programmes.
Mr. Narasimhulu Won “ Best Engineering ” award for his excellence performance in all the events at KITS Warangal.
Mr. D. Mallikharjun won second Prize in Technical Paper Presentation Conducted at Vaagdevi College of Engg.
Mr. Narasimhulu won first Prize in Technical Paper Presentation Conducted at Balaji Institute of Technology & Science.
Mr. Dinesh Raju won first Prize in Technical Paper Presentation Conducted at Srinidhi Institute of Technology & Science.
Mr. Dinesh Raju won first Prize in quiz competition conducted during FORCE -2007 at VCEW.

Mr. Lakshman Raju won first prize in technical paper presentation (Multi Feature charger) conducted at Srinidhi Institute of Technology and science.

Mr. K. Ram kumar was the winner of the “ National Level Flying Disc Championship ” at Mount Abu, Rajastan, 2006.
Many of our students bagged prizes at various National Level Seminars & Mini Project presentations.
The percentage of the student placed in various organizations through on campus & off campus placements has been increasing every year.
Mr. Raj kumar won first prize in Elocution competition on topic “ The Role & Impact of Electronics on Society ” ON 22/09/2004 conducted by ECE dept.
Prof D.V.Krishna Reddy is a retried prof of Kakatiya University. After retirement from Kakatiya University, he joined the Department of ECE & EIE of Vaagdevi College of Engineering in 1999 as head of department.Right from the inception of the Electronics Department, he has conduted National Seminar on Nano-Electronics and two National Level Workshops, One on Microprocessor and Microcontrollers and another on Low Power VLSI.He was detrimental in publishing of a containing technical and general articles contributed by Under Graduate students of ECE & EIE. .
The Department has a good staff strength that includes 3 Professors, 6 Associate Professors and 33 Assistant Professors.
A library is an essential component of the institute, outstanding research and education mission. It is the liveliest place in the department providing a safe, comfortable and friendly environment that enable learning and advancement of knowledge, and promotes discovery and scholarship. The mission of the department library is to facilitate the creation of new knowledge through acquisition, organization and dissemination of knowledge resources and providing for value added services.

Students and faculty of the Department has formed the foundation called “ABHAYA foundation” in 2009-2010 to help the physically and mentally challenged people.
Under ABHAYA foundation department is conducting cultural programmes since 2009-2010 the Amount collected by these programmes are donated to one of the registered organization.
